Did I Ever Tell You...

....about my "Bogus" Room?

In the house we are renting, we have a "bogus" room.  You, and many others, probably refer to it as a bonus room.  Except, it is not a bonus for us.  It is a room that is oddly configured, has lots of doors and a room that I could not figure out how to decorate.  It looks something like this...

and this...

If you would like to read about this "bogus" room and my frustration, you can check that post out here.  I really was ready to purchase doggie beds for us to loll around on.  But then, I would have had to purchase little doggie bowls (even though they do have some adorable little stands for the bowls) for us to eat from and that would just get complicated and we would probably be arrested, and who really wants to go there??!!  See, now you want to know what the doggie bed story is about, right?! ;-)

Fortunately, I had an idea that I thought would work.  So, I set about transforming the bogus room into Margaritaville.

While it hasn't been ideal, it works while we are in this house.

We were hesitant to purchase new furniture for the room when we weren't sure what the bogus room would look like in the house we decide to buy or even IF we would have a bogus room.

If you would like to read about the transformation, you can check it out here.  If we stay in this house too much longer, you will probably be reading about yet another transformation!

I am probably going to take a little break from the blog for the holiday weekend to relax a bit with the hubster...after all, July 4th is our anniversary.  We couldn't be happier that you have all decided to celebrate our anniversary with us! ;-)

Have a Happy Fourth of July and a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

  1. Happy Anniversary to you both! lol, the realtor who showed us our house, laughed because the sellers said our house was a 5 bedroom. For the record, the 'bogus' room didn't have a closet, so it was a fake room....but I love the word 'bogus, describes one perfectly'! Have a fun weekend, lady!

    1. Thank you so much! We are going to chill for the most part! Our bogus room has nothing BUT doors -- 2 separate doors to attic storage, one door to a bathroom and a set of French doors at the bogus room opening. Also has lots of angles and a sloped ceiling....perfect for no one! LOL Have a wonderful weekend!! HUGS!!

  6. I think the room looks lovely. Great color palette! Of course, now I have to go and read your other posts...you are a tricky girl! ;) Happy Anniversary! We were engaged on July 4th on a beach. Very romantic! We were married in a blizzard though, not nearly as romantic! Enjoy!

    1. Thank you so much Kim. And thank you for the anniversary wishes. We met over Halloween and I wanted to have a Halloween wedding and let everyone attend in costume. But the bestie put the kibosh on that so we moved the wedding up and picked July 4th. It was a day everyone was off work and it didn’t tie up their weekend (July 4th was on a Friday that year). I think the blizzard would be very romantic…snow, a fire in the fireplace, hot chocolate (or hot toddies) all around…LOL. Hope y’all have a great 4th and great weekend!!

  7. We almost bought a house recently with a bonus room. I immediately started dreaming of making a visitor's room where our daughters and their families could stay. A queen bed on bottom coming out from the wall and a bridge up across the top with enough room for two single mattresses head to head with stairs up to the bunks. Each of our 3 daughters has a hubby and two small children, so the room would be perfect. It had its own bathroom and was up over the garage. Still dreaming about that bunk room!

    1. See, that was what I envisioned when we first looked at this house…that it would be a wonderful guest room because it had a bathroom attached to it. I thought a nice queen bed, dresser, TV, etc. But the minute we put our oversized furniture in that room, I knew it was a bust…that it would never be what I hoped it would be. And, that long entertainment center that is in there wouldn’t fit in the space downstairs, so I had to change everything all around and that room stayed empty for a while, except for the TV and entertainment center….oh, and the hubby’s humidor for his cigars! :-) The bunk room sounds fabulous!!!

  9. And the fireworks are always for the two of you! I remember the bogus room makeover. It still seems to fit. Maybe throw a bit of sand around. Of course we all want to hear the true doggie story.

    1. That is exactly right! We love the fireworks being sent off in our honor!! The sand would most definitely be a nice touch -- but that stuff never seems to come out of the carpet! :-) That story goes with the feed bag...LOL. Have a wonderful 4th Donna!!

  10. That's a new one on me, bogus room! I will have to read about that.

Happy anniversary, tomorrow! And I bet you've always gotten cute little jokes from people about the fireworks. You enjoy your little blogging break and celebrate happily. Are you heading downtown for the music Friday night and the fireworks tomorrow night? Our kids are but we'll watch from the comfort of our chairs.

Happiest of 4ths to you, Benita!

    1. Thank you so much Dewena!! And yes, we do get the cute jokes and enjoy every one of them! 

We have been slugs the entire weekend, so far. We didn’t do much of anything yesterday except a few housekeeping chores and today we will grill out with another couple. We weren’t sure where we would be able to see the fireworks downtown, but we may just be chillin’ here….LOL. We have just been on the road so much that the thought of getting in the car to go anywhere is not a pleasing one. I hope you and your family have a most wonderful day today and a fabulous weekend! Hugs!!!

  13. Your room looks like it has loads of space. I think I would have gone with bean bags or something that doesn't look half as beautiful as your make do arrangement. Happy Anniversary to you both!

    1. Thank you so much Stella. Bean bags were also considered. The hubster said he would never get up off the floor if we did that! :-)
